If the aim is to carry around PuTTY and its settings on one USB stick, you probably want to store it on the USB stick. You should replace a:\putty.rnd with the location where you want to store your random number data. Historically, directories typically listed entries on people or businesses, and their contact information such directories are still in use today. That is, it is a directory on the World Wide Web of (all or part of) the World Wide Web. This batch file needs two auxiliary files: PUTTYRND.REG which sets up an initial safe location for the PUTTY.RND random seed file, and PUTTYDEL.REG which destroys everything in the Registry once it's been successfully saved back to the file. A web directory or link directory is an online list or catalog of websites. Regedit /ea new.reg HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\SimonTatham\PuTTY This can all be done using the Regedit command line options, so it's all automatic. You will need a file called (say) PUTTY.BAT which imports the contents of a file into the Registry, then runs PuTTY, exports the contents of the Registry back into the file, and deletes the Registry entries. ![]() However, you can work around this with a couple of batch files. ![]() PuTTY does not currently support storing its configuration in a file instead of the Registry.
